Principal Pilgrimage

As many of you know, I was scheduled to go on Pilgrimage earlier this year following the footsteps of St Paul to Greece and Turkey however this was canceled due to the conflict in the middle east at the time. This pilgrimage has been rescheduled and is confirmed as definitely going ahead!

I will leave over the Term 3 school holidays and be on pilgrimage for the first few weeks in Term 4, returning to school on Thursday 22nd of October. During this Pilgrimage, I will be joining other principals from the Northern Zone where we will follow the “Footsteps of St. Paul.” This pilgrimage retraces the Apostle Paul’s 10,000 mile journey spreading Christianity across the Mediterranean, focusing on key sites in Greece and Turkey. Major stops include Philippi (first European church), Thessalonica, Athens, Corinth and Ephesus.

I feel very privileged to be able to learn more about St. Paul’s having completed a Pauline Literature unit during my initial teaching degree, the conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus remains one of the most powerful examples of transformation in our faith and something that has always intrigued me as he was such a fierce opponent of the early Church and was changed by a direct encounter with the risen Christ. This moment of radical conversion shifted his life from one of persecution to one of profound mission, proving that a single encounter with God can reshape a person’s entire purpose.

I look forward to bringing back much learning back to our community here at Mother Teresa, especially at a time whilst we are re-defining ‘who we are’ through our refreshed vision and mission.

During my leave, Mr Matt Galea will be Acting Principal and Mr Heath Leighton will be Acting Deputy Principal. Matt and Heath will be supported by other members of the leadership team.
